When a provider is hired, obviously both they and their employer want them to be billable as rapidly as possible. It is anything but straightforward. Each provider must submit an application to each health plan using their specific process. These requirements can vary widely and sometimes require a unique credentialing application, a state standardized application or CAQH. Once the application arrives at the health insurance company, they have their own comprehensive verification process which ensures the provider in question meets all of their requirements. Once the insurer has performed due diligence, they will issue a letter of participation.
