Tricare’s Consolidation of their Organization and the Impact on Beneficiaries

Tricare is a health care program for military personnel, retirees, and their families. Tricare has undergone
several changes in recent years to improve the quality of care and access to services for its beneficiaries. In this blog post, we will discuss some of the recent changes to Tricare, including organizational changes, and what they mean for beneficiaries.

One of the most significant organizational changes to Tricare is the consolidation of the three Tricare regions into two regions: Tricare East and Tricare West.

This consolidation is intended to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Tricare program by
streamlining administrative processes and reducing duplication of effort. The consolidation has also led to the establishment of two new regional contractors, who are responsible for managing the delivery of health care services to Tricare beneficiaries in their respective regions.

Another organizational change to Tricare is the establishment of the Defense Health Agency (DHA) as the agency responsible for managing the Tricare program.

The DHA is responsible for overseeing the Tricare health plan, managing the Tricare contracts, and
ensuring that beneficiaries have access to high-quality health care services. The establishment of the
DHA is intended to improve the coordination and integration of health care services for military
personnel, retirees, and their families.

In conclusion, Tricare has undergone several organizational changes in recent years to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the program. These changes include the consolidation of the Tricare regions, the establishment of new regional contractors, and the establishment of the Defense Health Agency as the agency responsible for managing the Tricare program.
