CMS Launches User-Friendly Quality Payment Program System for Clinicians
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that physicians and other eligible clinicians who participate in the Quality Payment Program can begin submitting 2017 performance data via a new system at the Quality Payment Program website.
Prior submission requirements were cumbersome and involved multiple websites. The new, user-friendly system is available during the 2017 submission period which runs from January 2, 2018 to March 31, 2018. Groups using the CMS Web Interface have a different submission period of January 22, 2018 to March 16, 2018.
Medicare Quality Payment Program
The Quality Payment Program went into effect on January 1, 2017 and established a two-track value-based reimbursement system. CMS implemented this program to incentivize health care providers to provide high quality care over service volume. CMS’s goal with the new system is to make it easier for clinicians to meet reporting requirements so that they can spend more time treating patients instead of filing paperwork.
After logging into the system, eligible clinicians will be connected to the taxpayer identification number associated with their National Provider Identifier (NPI) in order to report their data either as an individual or as a group.
Clinicians should log in early and often to get familiar with the new system. Data can be updated at any time during the submission period.
For help with the data submission system, contact the Quality Payment Program at qpp@cms.hhs.gov or call toll-free 866-288-8292. Learn more at the Quality Payment Program data submission factsheet.
