Texas Simplifies Enrollment in Its 19 Medicaid Plans

Physicians in Texas who want to accept participating Texas Medicaid plans are getting a big break in payer enrollment paperwork reduction.

Thanks to a new collaboration between the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Association of Health Plans (TAHP), beginning April 1, 2018, health service providers now only have to complete one application for all 19 Medicaid plans. The prior process was laborious and included completing one application for each plan – and each of these credentialing applications was up to 40 pages long! 

As before, providers must still contract with each plan in which they are interested, but now are able to complete one central application that each plan will use.

Texas Medicaid Recredentialing Deadlines Simplified

Another benefit from the new system is that each physician will have just one recredentialing deadline with the Texas Medicaid plans every three years. This will be a welcome break, as health care providers won’t have to track up to 19 different recredentialing dates and applications.
